The latest central Ohio
housing report showed May had the highest number of new listings in one month since April
2010. There were 4,213 new listings added to the market last month, up 19.6
percent from May 2012 (3,522), according to the Columbus Board of REALTORS®.
The number of Licking
County home listings coming on the market as a new listing in May 2013 was 363,
up 44% with only 252 new listings in May 2012.
New listings weren’t the
only good news for May. Central Ohio home sales skyrocketed, up 27% (2,756) from
the same time last year (2,170), reaching the most home sales for the month of
May on record and the fifth highest sales month on record.
Licking County saw 189
single family and condominium home sales in May 2013, up 6.8% from May 2012.
For the first five months of the year, 705 homes sold in Licking County, up
13.3% over the same period last year.
The average sold price
for Licking County homes sold in May 2013, was $174,996, up 26.5% from May
2012. For the first five months of the year, the average sold price was $146,256,
up 3.1% over the same period last year.
The average days on
market for a house until sale was down 25 days, or 23.8%, at 80 days in May
2013 compared to May 2012. For the first five months of the year, the average
days on market for a Licking County home sale was 93 days, down 15 days, or
13.9 percent from the same period last year.
For the first five
months of the year, the number of Licking County home listings coming on the
market totaled 1,443, up 13.4% with 1,273 new listings over the same period
last year.
The number of Licking
County home listings going in contract in May 2013, totaled 269 homes. The inventory
of homes for sale in Licking County in May 2013 was 1,044, with 7.1 months
supply of inventory.
