In 2015, residential real estate experienced its best year
since the Great Recession ended in 2009. Although inventory could still use a
jolt, demand was healthy throughout the year and there was enough supply to
keep the engine strong.
Central Ohio saw 29,408 single-family and condominium home sales in 2015, up 9.3 percent from 2014 (26,917) marking the highest year for home sales on record. The last time home sales came close to being this high was in 2005 during the housing boom when annual sales reached 27,493 according to data gathered by Columbus REALTORS® from their Multiple Listing Service.

Licking County saw 2,284 single-family and condominium home
sales in 2015, up 11.7 percent from 2014 (2,045). Licking County’s average homes
sold price was $167,579 in 2015, up 3.6% over 2014.
Licking County homes sold in 2015, had spent an average of
71 days on market (from listing to close), down 14.5% from 83 days for 2014.
For 2015, there were 3,001 new listings, up 4.5% from 2014. There were 122 new listings in Dec., up 13% from
Dec. 2014. The inventory of homes and condos for sale in Licking County was 621
at the end of Dec., with a 3.1 months supply of inventory.
The average sold price of a Licking County home during the
month of Dec. was $154,849, which is a 3.8% decrease from Dec. 2014. There were 188 homes sold in Licking County in
Dec., up 11.9% from Dec. 2014. There were 145 Licking County homes that went into
contract with a Buyer in Dec. 2015.
