LC Home Sales Up 15.4% in First Half 2013

After 7 days on market, 557 Myrtle Ave. went into contract in June with a full price offer of $139,900, and closed in July.
Central Ohio home sales continue to top the charts this year as sales for the first six months of the year (13,031) were 22.2 percent higher than last year - and the next highest on record behind 2006 when the market saw 13,192 sales January through June.

The 2,810 closings last month were 10.4 percent higher than June 2012 and mark the 18th month of year over year sales increases according to the Columbus Board of REALTORS®.

Licking County saw 916 single family and condominium home sales from Jan. - June 2013, up 15.4% from the same period last year. In Licking County, 207 homes sold in June 2013, up 20.3% from June 2012.

In addition to the increases in sales, home prices continue to rise also. The average sold price for Licking County homes sold for the first half of the year was $147,000, up 3.2% from the same period last year. The average sold price was $150,360 in June 2013, a 4.2% increase from June 2012.

The average days on market for a house until sale was down 15.5% to 87 days on market from Jan. - June 2013, compared to 103 days the same time period last year.

The number of Licking County home listings coming on the market as a new listing for the first half of the year was 1,774, a 15% increase over the same period last year.

The number of Licking County home listings going in contract in June 2013, totaled 257 homes. The inventory of homes for sale in Licking County in June 2013 was 1,074, with 7.2 months supply of inventory.
