Home Sales up 15.4% in the LC in 2013

The second-highest sales year on record ended with the strongest December since the housing boom in Central Ohio. December home sales came in at 1,735, 2.5 percent higher than December 2012 and the most sales on record since the peak of the boom in 2005 (1,829) according to the Columbus Board of Realtors Multiple Listing System (MLS).
 
In total, there were 27,033 closed sales in Central Ohio in 2013 which was 17.1 percent higher than December 2012. The sale price of a Central Ohio home in 2013 was $174, 336, an increase of 4.2 percent over 2012.
 
"Home sales and prices continue to increase based on competitive listing prices, inventory, and buyer's demand," said Phil Frye, CENTURY 21 Frank Frye Real Estate General Manager and Realtor.
In Licking County, there were 1,967 closed home sales in 2013 which was 15.4 percent higher than 2012.
The sale price of a Licking County home in 2013 was $149,713, an increase of 3.9 percent over 2012.
The number of Licking County homes for sale going into contract in December was 139.
The number of days on market for Licking County homes for sale was 83 at the end of 2013, down 14 days since the end of 2012.
The inventory of homes for sale in Licking County was 915 at the end of 2013.
The months supply of inventory of homes for sale in Licking County was 5.6 months at the end of 2013.
